The award-winning Grey To Green scheme looks set to cultivate new followers – with plans to extend the scheme into neighbouring parts of the city including Castlegate. Castlegate is the oldest part of Sheffield and has been inhabited since at least the 11th Century.

The multi-million pound refurbishment means the hotel now features 80 brand new bedrooms with another 30 to be constructed, free on-site parking, a new open lobby concept, Starbucks Coffee, meeting rooms, function rooms and a branded Bella Italia restaurant.

Despite the recent challenge from heritage campaigners over the building of the Paddington Cube, developer Sellar has published its timeline for the Paddington Square scheme – which sees construction work beginning as early as next year.

Chairman and owner of Notts County FC, Alan Hardy said: "We are extremely proud of our status as the world’s oldest Football League club and commend Andy’s efforts to commemorate our birthplace. The meeting that took place inside the Mercure in 1864 was hugely significant for the sport and the plaque will be a fitting way for people to learn more about our club’s unrivalled history."

Casual Dining Group (CDG) has signed agreements to operate the food and beverage programs at two UK hotels in what is a signal of its intent to grow its franchise portfolio.

The deals, which are both with London Town Group (LTG), will see CDG create and operate a bespoke premium offering at the Hotel Indigo London Paddington, as well as introduce a Bella Italia at the newly-built Holiday Inn Leicester Wigston.

The London Town Group is undertaking a multi-million pound refurbishment of The Ramada Leicester Stage to rebrand the hotel as the Holiday Inn Leicester Wigston.
